Untitled
Untitled, is an investigation of grief caused by war through performance and reenactments. The body holds history and emotions that spans through time and space. Being a Vietnamese person, I live within a space that is held together by grief. The interactions that occur between my family and others refuses to acknowledge how this grief manifests within our lives. Through this project I want to investigate the root of this grief through performance and reenactments. The body holds history that can not be erased but only forgotten. By reenacting and interpreting the grief that comes from the war, I am able to connect grief from the past with the present and heal the emotional wounds that have been imprinted onto Vietnamese people. By using my own body as a subject, I am able to understand the importance of this war to my own life and to understand the obsession of trying to understand the war. It is also through self portraiture, I am transforming myself into this time period to reflect on the ways that this war has impacted my country and family.
